PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Coty’s Process Engineers are based in Ashford (Kent), at a site which manufacturers global brand cosmetics such as Rimmel and Max Factor. Working alongside our factory teams, our Process Engineers will analyse and identify ‘root cause’, to work on continuous improvement.

There is significant opportunity for interns who are engaged, numerate and analytical to start a real job, take responsibility and learn the foundations of Process Engineering from day one. We are committed to developing new graduate engineers, and the scope of Coty means that our team can work on specialist areas and grow as their skills and experience develops.

Role Overview
The Process Engineer takes responsibility for analysing data, identifying issues and leading root cause investigation. They own, drive and manager action plans to support continuous improvement activities by;
Improving departmental performance by training, facilitating, coaching and mentoring staff members in continuous improvement activities. Planning and acting as team leader in projects and Lean Events to support a culture of continuous improvement and wider participation. Lead all NPD activities in area of responsibility and inter-company pricing (where appropriate), in addition to documentation and control of machine adaptation and provision of machine set-up records. Manage any allocated budgets. Be a process ‘champion’ in specific lean tools and support the wider factory in related projects. Communicate progress at all levels of the business, from senior management to shop floor.

Technical Skills Knowing and understanding development trends in your field within and outside the organisation. Working knowledge of TQM methodology and process management. Working knowledge and understanding of production packing processes, filling and finishing techniques and industrialisation processes. Proven skills and knowledge in Lean tools (visual management, 5S, SMED techniques, standard work, root cause analysis, mistake proofing, autonomous maintenance, value stream mapping, FMEA). Good understanding of quality processes and measurements used. Understanding of ISO standards and FDA requirements. Possess Budget management knowledge Train the trainer Ability to develop and deliver specific technical training packages where required

Safety Responsibilities Follow all Company Safety Policies and adhere to all processes and procedures that are in place, including but not limited to: COSHH, PPE, accident/incident reporting, first aid, manual handling, Risk assessments Adherence to all Health & Safety at Work obligations. Challenge non-compliance to H&S, Quality and Hygiene Guidelines. Assist in investigating any accident or incident reports on the system.

Quality Responsibilities Assist in finding the root cause in any quality issue. Ensure new products follow set quality standards (through managing the Bill of Materials), and follow the NPD process (from FMEA to Demi-Grande stage) up to first production. Reporting of defective components. Lead equipment and process improvements to support and maintain quality standards.
