Process Engineer Aberdeen, Scotland

Shell
Full Time Aberdeen, Scotland 50000 - 85384 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

The Role

Where you fit in

The Process Engineering Team provides technical support to 3 offshore platforms and 1 FPSO, along with the SEGAL pipeline network, the St Fergus Gas Plant, the Fife NGL Plant and the Braefoot Bay Terminal.

Due to increasing activity levels, we’re looking to bolster the team. This is a great development opportunity for an early career professional or someone with more experience looking to transfer from a related field.

What’s the role?

The role will be based in Aberdeen, with visits to the onshore and offshore facilities as required. The successful candidate is likely to work across multiple assets over the course of 2-4 years – developing towards Technical Authority Level 3 (broadly equivalent to Chartered Engineer), though the exact role will depend on experience and the optimal deployment of skills within the team.

As a Process Engineer, you will:

  • Ensure the safe operation of Shell’s upstream facilities - acting as a process safety ambassador, improving ways of working, and delivering plant changes to manage process safety risks to ALARP
  • Drive greenhouse gas reduction: identifying and implementing initiatives to accelerate progress towards Shell’s Net Zero ambitions.
  • Maximise performance through production system optimisation (PSO), increasing production, eliminating waste, and reducing costs.

Operations support is always a dynamic environment, and the work will be varied. It is likely to include surveillance and troubleshooting, running trials and demonstrating ongoing compliance with ALARP principles.

What we need from you

Candidate must have a process engineering degree or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, and relevant experience typically in oil and gas or petrochemicals.

The following skills would be useful, though it is recognised that candidates may not yet have had an opportunity to develop all of these.

  • Experience troubleshooting process plants
  • Flow assurance exposure (hydrates, wax, slugging)
  • Ability to prepare technical drawings (P&IDs, HAC etc), reports and procedures
  • Experience with standard process modelling tools such as Unisim (or Hysys)
  • Experience in risk identification, assessment and mitigation (eg HAZOPs/LOPA)

The successful candidate is likely to be working towards chartership with IChemE or an equivalent body.

If you don't see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed on the posting above, we still encourage you to reach out and apply. We are committed to creating a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse company and we strongly encourage applicants of all genders, ages, ethnicities, cultures, abilities, sexual orientation, and life experiences to apply. We look forward to receiving your application.
