Job description
OCI Nitrogen North America is looking for a Junior Process Engineer to join our Engineering team in Wever, Iowa. This individual will be responsible for evaluating processes and configuring process production systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.
What you will do as a Junior Process Engineer:
- Evaluate and improve on processes in production systems.
- Maintain reliable and safe process systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, cost and changeovers.
- Provide suggestions during incident investigations and advise on corrective actions.
- Ensure that all aspects of operations and process meet specified regulations.
- Ensuring the process works at the optimum level, to the right rate and quality of output, and safety of the plant.
- Make observations and take measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved.
- Assume responsibility of ongoing performance of processes and process plant.
- Assess the availability of raw materials and the safety and environmental impact of the plant.
- All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience and Skills
- Ability to read and produce technical reports and diagrams of the manufacturing process.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint).
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
- Strong adherence and knowledge of industry safety standards. Active participation in ongoing development of safety improvement plans and training of staff.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
- Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required.
- Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
- Confined space entry may be required.
