Every dog and cat in need deserves expert, personalised care and support, and to be loved. When you work for Mayhew, you understand that better than ever. We’re a passionate, committed and diverse team of c80 staff and c150 volunteers, here for dogs, cats and communities in the UK, in Afghanistan and in Georgia. We offer expert veterinary care, rescue and rehoming services, programmes in the community and guidance and support to improve the lives of dogs and cats in need.
We are recruiting a Marketing Manager who shares our compassion and commitment for animal welfare, to build our understanding of our core target audiences and attract many more people to support us through creative marketing campaigns and publications.
This is a central role within the marketing and communications team which will lead on Mayhew’s audience research, print publications, advertising and marketing campaign planning. You will work with the Head of Engagement to develop a sector-leading brand which inspires current and potential supporters, staff and volunteers, acting as the brand guardian for the organisation. While the role will own Mayhew’s offline marketing activity, the post-holder will maintain a multi-platform vision, with an excitement for integrated campaigns and a deep understanding of the part digital plays in understanding and reaching existing and new audiences.
This role would be ideal for a highly organised, motivated individual whose creative flair is driven by data and insight, and who is excited by the idea of leading an ambitious programme of work for a growing organisation. A stellar project manager and problem solver, you’ll enjoy working in collaboration with colleagues to significantly grow our supporter base. As Mayhew’s brand guardian, you will inspire trust and enthusiasm across the organisation while protecting the application and perception of the brand both internally and externally.
The post holder will be joining Mayhew at an exciting time. Ambitious plans are in development to further grow our visibility to support Mayhew in delivering its corporate ambitions over the coming years in order to help more dogs, cats and people in our communities. We feel the urgency of soaring demand for our vital work and feel relentless in our commitment to rise to meet it. We work in a contemporary and flexible way, always supporting one another to take opportunities and to manage competing priorities so we can achieve our objectives. We are looking for someone who is as committed to dogs and cats in need as we are, and who thrives in this working style. We are determined to achieve a collaborative, integrated working approach for the organisation and to move the charity forward at pace.
Generally, you will:
- Develop and maintain a leading brand which is clear and welcoming to those who want to join our cause
- Have a first class understanding of our current and potential supporters and are implementing that knowledge day-to-day
- Deliver exciting, resourceful and creative campaigns which shine a light on the work we do and inspire people to join us
- Deliver against our awareness targets and maximise the impact of our communications using data and insight.
To be successful in this role, you need relevant experience:
- Working in a marketing role in a charity of comparable breadth and scope, with proven success in growing supporters and improving supporter experience and supporter journeys
- Delivering annual and multi-year marketing strategies and budgets
- Acting in a brand guardian capacity
- Project managing print publications, including large-scale cross-organisational products such as annual reviews
