The Process Development Manager is an exciting role which provides a strong focus on delivering technical excellence through the practical application of biscuit manufacturing know-how and developments in process technology. The role will play an important part in raising the technical capabilities of site functions to support the move towards world class manufacturing standards at pladis.
This factory-based role will allow you to develop your skills and experience in all aspects of biscuit manufacturing; implementation of NPD, product transfers, cost reduction, continuous improvement and business continuity. In addition, your process understanding and curiosity to bring technical know-how to the role will need be crucial. The role will support your development in the adoption and application of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles and the ability to work with business systems.

What will this role achieve?
- Lead and support specific process development projects to implement new products, manufacturing & technology change, and cost reduction opportunities for the factory.
- Lead and support business continuity projects (both planned and unplanned) to ensure supply of ingredients and product manufacture.
- Manage and support continuous improvement initiatives which deliver sustained advancements in process capability, efficiency, and consumer satisfaction.
- Management of product and process specifications
What will be your key deliverables?
- Lead and implement specific initiatives to deliver the introduction of NPD and cost reduction opportunities within the Process Development Team, ensuring all projects meet time, cost, and quality constraints.
- Executes effective and efficient planning, management and reporting of all factory trials relating to cost reduction, NPD, Procurement, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Develops process specifications for the site’s product range in line with the plants actual capability and completed for all product changes and launches
- Updates pladis specifications systems to capture all technical information and / or technical change affecting site.
- Identifies opportunities for continuous process improvements and develops justifications for capital investment.
- Applies Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, techniques and principles to drive Technical excellence across all site operations, including the continuous improvement of performance and product quality.
- Provide ‘hands-on’ site technical support to continuous improvement initiatives including identification of root cause and implementation of solutions; both day to day issues and longer-term initiatives
What do you need for this role?
Crucial
- HND qualification or higher in Food, Science, Manufacturing or Engineering
- Some experience or background of key food manufacturing processes within a site based technical or manufacturing role
- Courage to challenge and confidence to prioritise, and know when to ask for help in a timely manner
- Strong influencing and communication skills in English
Desirable
Ideally, we would love candidates to have some knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma, but if you don’t, you will be able to receive development and training on the job!
- University degree level qualification
- Experience in a biscuit manufacturing technical role
- Demonstrated success in implementation of NPD, cost reduction, procurement, and continuous improvement projects.
