We are looking to invest in a naturally self-motivated individual with an energy and passion for this area of law and who wants to grow, develop, and be mentored into our established team.
The ideal candidate will be attentive and have a careful eye for detail, excellent client care skills, be a good communicator and possess a natural interest and curiosity in matters of a litigious nature, in particular, contentious probate, Court of Protection disputes and/or privacy disputes. Some experience of drafting documents and negotiating and working to deadlines would be desirable but not essential.
This is a two-year training contract, initially focussing on Contentious Probate almost exclusively in the Leicester office and subsequently moving to either Nottingham or Derby to focus on Privacy or Contentious Court of Protection matters with a view to qualifying with the team as a Dispute Resolution Solicitor, equipped with the legal knowledge and skills to be a valuable member and contributor of the team.
As a trainee in this team, you will get involved in supporting the senior members of the team in a busy and fast paced environment. Amongst other things, you will dedicate a significant amount of time to dealing with Court applications, witness evidence and litigious correspondence. You will be responsible for liaising with clients, speaking with opponents, preparing and issuing proceedings, dealing with case management, mediations and much more. You will work closely with the team and, with direction, assist on cases to enhance your learning and experience. We encourage client contact for our junior team members and you will be encouraged to take responsibility for aspects of work whilst all the time ensuring you have adequate supervision and support. You will also be involved in business networking, including attending networking events and producing blogs and content for our website and social media.
Applicants interested in this exciting opportunity will have achieved a high standard of academic success in their Law degree and have passed or be within their final year of the LPC prior to the commencement of the training contract.
Previous work experience is not essential however experience or working in a legal or professional services environment would be advantageous.
This role will start in our Leicester office. You will also be required to work in our Nottingham and Derby offices during this time. The training contract will conclude in either the Derby or Nottingham office.
