We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as an Associate Director – Investments, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

HSBC Alternatives is the alternatives investment platform of HSBC Asset Management, with $50 bn Assets Under Management (AUM) and is one of the largest investors in private markets globally.

The Associate Director – Investments role in the Private Markets team will be focused on Primary, Secondary and Co-investment opportunities principally in Private Equity (PE) (but also in Infrastructure, Private Credit and Real Estate) across North America, Europe and Asia.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and conduct the due diligence of investment opportunities
  • Originate investment opportunities and ideas to support investment deal flow
  • Support the team in the day to day activities of running a large global fund investment program
  • Screen and review investment opportunities to assess the overall risk / reward profile of the opportunity
  • Present the investment thesis and leading investment discussions with the Investment Committee
  • Assist in the monitoring and management of the existing portfolio, which includes maintaining dialogue with GPs, attending Annual General Meetings (AGM) and producing detailed investment monitoring reports
  • Manage and mentor Analysts and Associates in the team
  • Respond to inbound requests from clients and assist with their reporting and understanding of existing investments
Requirements

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Have financial industry experience, with strong and relevant experience in PE fund investing space
  • Have experience across infrastructure, private credit and impact investing is preferred but not required
  • Strong commercial acumen resulting in sound risk / reward judgments
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to convince without hard-selling
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Strong financial modelling skills and PowerPoint proficiency
