The Financial Analyst is a key member of our Finance team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Reporting & Planning. This role will have the unique opportunity to support or lead projects across a broad range of areas to drive meaningful business decisions that can significantly improve profitability at Roots.
The Financial Analyst for Roots will be responsible for the following:
- Conduct data analysis for the Direct-to-Consumer operating segment, leveraging recent trends to drive informed decision making
- Provide financial advisory support cross functionally to help achieve financial targets, identify risks & opportunities, and provide high quality performance measurement analysis
- Modify existing and design new processes to improve efficiency of data analysis projects, including report building and dashboard creation
- Contribute to the development of the annual budget and any longer-term financial plans, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities
- Assist with analysis and preparation of monthly and quarterly financial presentations for senior management and board of directors
- Assist the Senior Director of Finance or Director of Data Analytics in ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed
- University degree in Business, or related quantitative discipline
- 2 - 3 years of relevant experience within Finance; retail industry experience is an asset
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to link financial results to strategic and operational activities
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with senior management and build relationships
- Ability to work with large data sets, extract insight, build reports/dashboards and present findings in a clear, simple, and concise manner
- Expert technical knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with PowerBI & SSAS Tabular Models (including DAX), SQL, and/or other business intelligence tools is a strong asset
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at any given time
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Self-directed, eager to learn, and resourceful, but not afraid to seek guidance
