This is an opportunity for an ambitious and dedicated Solicitor / Fee Earner, to join the Private Client department of Paul Crowley & Co solicitors, based at our head office in Anfield.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Department and will join a highly professional and motivated team.
A minimum of 3 years experience gained within the private client sector is required.
Purpose
The prime role of the Private Client Solicitor is to advise on a wide variety of Contentious and Private law matters and to assist in building the Private Client portfolio.
You will be keen to be at the forefront in the development of the contentious element of the team and the department overall. You will be a Legal Executive or qualified Solicitor with experience in handling Wills and Probate and your caseload will be varied with high value and some complex cases. You will be dealing with each case from inception through to completion, so it is essential that you are confident working independently and efficiently.
You will be provided with secretarial support but are expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative, whilst communicating effectively with partners, colleagues, and clients.
Person Specification and requirements
- Experience in advising on a variety of Private client matters.
- Experience in Contentious probate matters, Court of Protection, complex cases within Trusts, elderly client issues and litigation.
- Experience in complex inheritance tax estates.
- Knowledge of Capital Gains Tax and Estate Planning.
- Strong time-management and ability to manage own caseload.
- Commercially minded.
- Personable and confident/articulate communicator.
- Pro-active and ‘can do’ attitude.
- Own referral source would be advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience of Lexcel Compliance would be advantageous.
- Knowledge and use of Proclaim case management system would be advantageous.
- STEP Qualification or working towards would also be desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the effective management and advisory service of all aspects of allocated private client cases, including but not limited to:
- Wills
- Probate
- Estate Administration
- Inheritance Tax Planning
- Powers of Attorney
- Court of Protection
- Trusts
- Elderly Client Issues
- Inheritance Tax Estates
- Capital Gains and Estate Planning
- Providing advice and guidance to other members of staff within the Private Client Department.
- Drafting legal documents and various court applications.
- Contribute towards the growth and development of the Private Client department.
- Undertake any specific training when required and to have overall responsibility towards self-development and continuing competence.
- Be actively involved in ensuring compliance in Lexcel, Client Care and other standards.
- Contribute towards achieving the departmental billing targets.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and client’s documentation and information.
- Be actively involved in marketing and business development activities and networking.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Directors as necessary for other fee earners and members of staff.
