Paralegal: Private Client
Location: Wimbledon
Salary: £28,000 - £31,000

Key Responsibilities of the Paralegal role.
To undertake fee earning work supervised by the Fee Earners and meet the billing targets associated with this. The role will involve supporting the busy Private Client team at our Wimbledon office in carrying out Fee Earning functions in a timely and accurate manner.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 years’ experience of working in a Private Client department.
To undertake a range of duties that will include:
- Experienced in drafting documents such as lasting powers of attorney and inheritance tax accounts
- Experienced in drafting letters to third parties such as banks, the Office of the Public Guardian
- Uploading probate applications to HMCTS website
- Understands and has experience in administering estates and the full process
- To ensure client communication and contact is regular, timely and sufficient for the client’s purposes.
- To produce work to the required professional standard to encourage referrals and repeat business.
- Maintain the firm’s reputation of providing a quality legal service to the Firm’s standards as laid down in the Professional Standards Manual and other documents produced from time to time.
- Engaging clients, developing client relationships and provide a high level of client service.
- Assisting the clients with process through their retainer.
- Liaising with other professionals.
Legal Advice
- Under supervision, conduct matters on behalf of clients according to the standards laid down in the Firm’s manuals, instructions from the Department Head and the Law Society.
- To apply the law effectively to client problems and to provide solutions to clients.
- Considering the position in respect of client costs, cost updates.
Billing and Time Recording
- To follow the firm’s procedures when recording time and managing the billing process.
- To meet the firm’s set targets for charging time to clients, achieving the annual fee target by maximising billing every month and thereby ensuring that work in progress is kept to a minimum.
File Management
- To manage work in accordance with the firm’s set procedures and quality standards.
- Ensure that all files are kept in a tidy manner in accordance with the firms procedures.
- Ensure that all new files are opened in accordance with the firm’s procedures
- To ensure confidentiality and security of all documentation.
- To process work efficiently and effectively.
