Join Police Digital Service as Principal UX Designer
We are seeking a skilled Principal UX Designer to join the Corporate ICT Team at PDS. As the Principal UX Designer, you will play a crucial role in leading the UX design efforts across a range of digital products and services.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the design of user experiences for a range of digital products and services, from initial concept to final implementation.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to define user requirements, ensure design solutions meet business objectives and user needs.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that communicate design concepts and interactions.
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and other user-centered design activities to validate design decisions and gather insights to inform design solutions.
- Ensure that designs meet accessibility, usability, and other industry standards and best practices.
- Manage and mentor a team of UX designers, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and design templates to ensure consistency across digital products and services.
- Partner with stakeholders to define and prioritize UX projects and ensure that design solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging UX design trends, tools, and technologies and evaluate their potential impact on our digital products and services.
- Provide input into product roadmaps and release plans based on user insights and design considerations.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the UX team and across the organisation.
- Facilitate UX workshops and design sprints to ideate, prioritise, and validate design concepts.
- Work with developers to ensure that designs are implemented accurately and efficiently.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and optimize workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that user experience considerations are integrated into all aspects of product development.
- Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking to inform design decisions and ensure that our digital products and services are competitive in the market.
- Communicate design concepts and solutions effectively to stakeholders and other team members.
- Continuously measure and evaluate the effectiveness of design solutions and iterate as needed based on user feedback and data.
Key Criteria:
- Proven experience of developing and embedding UX services, to mature and transform IT product and services.
- Previous experience in UX Design
- Demonstrable passion and curiosity about delivering high quality, high performing user experiences and technology products and solutions.
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship management, problem solving and building trust are all essential requirements for this role.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, as well as presentation and negotiation skills.
- Ability to win hearts and minds around good solution delivery and convince stakeholders to embed and mature their user experience capabilities.
- High standards—you will know what good looks like and want to deliver it.
- Current knowledge of the technical development industry: trends, innovation, and best practices.
