Priory Hospital Solihull are recruiting for a Principal Psychologist to join their fantastic multi-disciplinary team based in Meriden, Coventry.
This is a part time role of 30 hours per week of which a proportion of the time can be flexible/remote working.
The Pro rata salary is up to £52,000.
Priory Hospital Solihull is a 31-bedded mental health rehabilitation service for a males and females aged 18. The service is arranged across three separate wards and is for patients who have severe and enduring mental illness, which might include treatment resistant conditions.
In this role as Principal Psychologist you will contribute to the provision and development of the psychology service at Priory Solihull. You will provide psychological input in line with the agreed service provision, and identified risks and needs of the patients.
You will use your skills and experience in your respective field, to undertake the role is Principal Psychologist for a designated ward and/or group of patients as agreed with the head of psychology. This includes assessment, formulation, intervention and evaluation in line with the patient’s presentation and care pathway. Assess patients using appropriate assessments and psychometric measures and interpret and report results accurately. Some duties of the role include,
- To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures.
- To co-ordinate delivery of psychological assessment and intervention from other psychology staff including qualified psychologists, trainee psychologists, assistant psychologists and students and where appropriate to act as a point of liaison between the inpatient psychology pathway and the community psychology pathway
- To provide Reflective Practice for Staff (as directed by the Head of Psychology)
- To hold management, clinical and professional supervision responsibilities for junior psychology staff as directed by the Head of Psychology.
- Facilitate staff training in line with the agreed psychology provision as required.
- Contribute to the development of evidence-based practices, strategies and policies as requested by the Head of Psychology.
- Conduct research, service evaluation and audit as appropriate as guided by the Head of Psychology and Senior Management Team
- Develop own skills and experience as a psychologist. Attend supervision (clinical, management and peer) and training as required. Complete developmental objectives set. Maintain record of supervision and development in accordance with HCPC CPD guidelines.
To apply for this role you will need to:
- Be HCPC registered
- Have at least 4 years post registration experience within a similar setting
- Have experience is supervising assistants and trainees and facilitating reflective practice
- Have understanding, experience and/or training relevant to rehabilitation services, which may include:
- The basic principles of rehabilitation and recovery orientated practice, including what constitutes effective rehabilitation & its key components
- CBT psychosis
- Family Interventions
- Structured psychological interventions (individual, group or family) for bipolar affective disorder
- High Intensity psychological interventions for depression – CBT, IPT
- Positive Behavioural Support
- Wellness Recovery Action Plans
- Recognising and communicating with people who have special needs (eg cognitive impairment and Learning Disability)
- Motivational Interviewing
- DBT/Schema focused therapy
- Cognitive assessments
- Diagnostic schedules for PD
