This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Engine Programmer, to join the team behind Total War, Alien: Isolation and Halo Wars 2 on an exciting new Unreal Engine 5 project very early on in development. This will be based at our studio in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex.
We’re building an agile team focused on continuous improvement and the ideal candidate will have a passion for learning, innovation and developing simple, powerful solutions to complicated problems. The successful candidate will be able to make substantial contributions to the planning and development of key core engine systems to help the team deliver on the vision for the game, providing all disciplines with key technical input and helping them to solve challenging problems.
Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio. We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and empower our teams to define the working patterns which work best for them, which may mean different things for different teams and roles and at different times.

Key Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Work closely with the Engine Director to design, develop and maintain core engine features to support the project vision
- Bring your deep technical knowledge to help solve challenging problems across all disciplines
- Support content creators across disciplines with technical input and advice
- Aid in mentoring more junior members of the team in their technical professional development
- Improve the overall development efficiency of the team.
Essential
- Extensive professional C++ programming experience
- Experience in using Unreal Engine 4
- Knowledge and experience developing on consoles
- Knowledge of a variety of code optimisation techniques.
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5
- Multi-threaded / multi-core development experience
- Familiarity with the latest generation of consoles
- Passionate about innovative rendering techniques across and outside the industry
- Passionate about games and solving technical problems.
