Are you an experienced Principal Business Analyst who is an innovative thinker who can assess a businesses operating model ensuring it is working to its full potential? As our Principal Business Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying innovative ways for the business to deliver on its value proposition to customers, investors and regulators.

Key Accountabilities

As our Principal Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our company and the UK energy industry.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead the delivery of the RIIO2 performance plan, and run forum for reporting of initiatives
  • Develop a financial model to understand contribution of all initiatives to return on equity
  • Support initiative owners to identify interdependencies and blockers and support them to proactively solve these
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to support the business to identify new and better ways of delivering value for customers and investors. This will include commissioning and analysing data from 3rd party suppliers.
  • Synthesise data from customer, stakeholder and market insights to support making decisions on how initiatives are delivered.
  • Provide analysis for and attend engagements with external parties in the ecosystem; governmental, regulatory, suppliers, producers and local stakeholders.
  • Support the development of a holistic value framework that allows to understand value beyond just cost savings – for example ESG, security of supply of goods and equipment, delivering on regulatory commitments

We are looking for someone who is proactive and analytical, with a proven track record delivering complex projects in a dynamic environment with the ability to identify and articulate value to stakeholders.


The ideal candidate will come into the business with a passion for Net Zero and energy transition. You should be an excellent communicator who can build relationships and engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including the National Gas Executive team. The Principal Business Analyst should have strong commercial awareness, being able to identify and strike opportunities for the business as the arise. You should be analytical turning data in to key insights for your various stakeholders to digest. Again, strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills are key to being a success in this role.

  • 26 days holiday plus 8 statutory days - option available to buy extra holiday days.
