Job description

Full Job Description

Are you a Primary Teacher committed to improving the lives of children and young people?

This is a great opportunity to join Options Autism as a Teacher at Baston House School in Bromley, Kent.

  • Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
  • Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8.30am-4.30pm
  • Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Through your knowledge and passion, you will have a real impact on the lives of children and young people. Taking responsibility for their learning, you will motivate them, inspire them and help them develop the skills they need for an incredible future.

The role

As a dynamic and motivated qualified teacher, you already have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children and young people. In this role, you will have every opportunity to live up to this ambition, responding to the needs of individuals with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs, helping them flourish and thrive.

You will plan and deliver engaging learning on a daily basis, developing exciting and innovative methods that stimulate interest and excitement in the classroom. Working as a Teacher with us is not your average teaching role. At Options Autism, you are able to work creatively, making the most of all the extensive resources and expert support we have available.

Our class sizes are small, so you are able to create a nurturing learning environment designed around each individual’s needs, spending quality time with each pupil. You will observe, monitor and assess them, making sure their personal development and wellbeing are as important as the academic curriculum.

Who we are looking for

You will be a passionate teacher and a great communicator, as comfortable talking to children and young people with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs as you are with contributing to the school’s vision and direction.

Our schools are unique environments, each one having its own special atmosphere and range of opportunities and resources. Our Teachers enjoy becoming part of their school’s ‘family’, exploring the potential of the building and environment and getting to know the brilliant children and young people in our care.

You will enjoy building these caring relationships as well as liaising with fellow professionals, whether they are colleagues in the same school or they work in the children’s previous educational establishments.

You will have excellent written English skills too, along with a passion for working in collaboration with other members of our multidisciplinary team, sharing information in both formal and informal situations.
