Principal Resourcing are actively working to recruit a qualified Primary SEN Teaching Assistant for one of our partnership primary schools based in West Hull, close to the village of Cottingham, in their specialist SEN provision. The school has recently been Ofsted rated ‘Good’.
We are specifically looking for a Teaching Assistant with knowledge and experience of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum, who can support children with special educational needs including ASD, SEMH and moderate learning difficulties.
You can expect to earn up to £100 per day, depending on the requirements of the role.
Within the role you will be required to:
- Provide calming and nurturing support for some of the most vulnerable students with EHCP’s in place
- Instil good behaviour management strategy in line with the setting policy
- Support the delivery of lessons to engage and enthuse learners
- Be a positive role model for the children, through commitment to the setting expectations
- Encourage the talents and abilities of all students to achieve academically
- Display an enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally
- Show an interest in the children that you are working with, to build mutually respectful relationships
- Work effectively as part of a friendly staff team to support the children in your care
- Be resilient, not easily offended and able to de-escalate sometimes challenging situations
- There may be an element of personal care involved to support the children in their daily routine
Skills and attributes:
- Experience of supporting SEN children in KS1/KS2
- Ability to relate well to pupils and young adults with additional needs
- Experience of working within a similar setting (care homes, hospitals etc) would be advantageous
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Team Teach or MAPA qualification desirable
- Experience of working with physical disabilities, PMLD, ASD or SEMH advantageous, but not essential
- A proactive team member, committed to raising standards and achievement
- Able to manage and action a variety of issues relating to the well-being and safeguarding of children
- A valid DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
