The Primary Classroom Assistant Role:
As a Primary Classroom Assistant, you will be supporting teaching and learning in all subjects across the national curriculum, primarily with a Year 3 class. You will support the class teacher with managing classroom behaviour and assist pupils with their learning. As a Primary Classroom Assistant, you will also lead intervention sessions, both for behaviour and learning (i.e phonics, literacy and numeracy). You will also be expected to provide additional support for pupils with SEN, although there is a low proportion of pupils with additional needs in the class.
The Primary Classroom Assistant:
To be eligible for this Primary Classroom Assistant role, you must hold a minimum of a Level 3 Primary Classroom Assistant qualification. It is important that you have school based experience and have a good knowledge of the national curriculum, safeguarding procedures and behaviour policies. As a Primary Classroom Assistant, you should have a calm, fun personality that allows you to build strong rapport with the pupils you support.
