Role Responsibility
If so, then we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Kent and Medway Prevent team as one of two Prevent Education Officers (PEOs) to cover the South and East Kent areas.
The education sector has a vital role to play in the successful delivery of the Prevent Duty objectives. This is a high-profile role responsible for supporting all Early Years up to college settings across all key stages and education personnel within Kent, to deliver Prevent and Channel awareness to increase young people’s resilience to terrorism.
Alongside the existing PEO you will act as the point of contact for the Department of Education on Prevent delivery in education settings. You will offer expert advice, identify vulnerabilities and risks, deliver training, and build a network of contacts within Kent and Medway to advance Prevent activity. You will be working with a range of partner agencies including Kent Police, Counter Terrorism Police, Ofsted, Home Office, and Department for Education. The postholder will also work with Early Years providers, out of school settings and further education sector when required.

Requirements :
You will hold a relevant degree and/or extensive experience. You will have the ability to create a rapport and build relationships with all education sectors and other stakeholders, with good political awareness. You will have knowledge of the Prevent and Channel Duty, Independent Review of Prevent and CONTEST as well as safeguarding and child protection and relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks. You will be flexible in your approach and committed to helping to develop a new way of working. You will be willing to learn, working collaboratively to innovate and find new solutions, taking personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance. You will be a confident and engaging communicator and can manage competing priorities effectively. Prevent is a high profile and sometimes contentious area of work, therefore you must be resilient and able to engage in difficult conversations.
Transport:
This role requires the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.
This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
This is a flexible working position requiring a commitment to working from home and the office environment. Base office to be agreed on appointment.

- A starting salary of £36,866 (KR10 - £36,866 - £43,011) with annual performance related pay increases
