Position Title: Early Childhood Educator Newcomer Services
Location: Robert Lee YMCA
Terms: Temporary Part-Time: 0-25 hours/week (based on program needs)
Start: January 3, 2023
End: March 31, 2024
Shift: Shifts will vary based on program needs. Expected Shifts:
Tuesday to Friday 9:00am-1:00pm or 5:00pm to 9:00pm
Saturday between 9:00am to 4:00pm
Salary: $26.40 per hour plus benefits
Reports To: Manager, Newcomer Services

Nature & Scope:
Under the direction of the Manager of Newcomer Services and in collaboration of the Supervisor of Newcomer
Services, the Early Childhood Educator will facilitate activities for newcomer children while the parents participate
in the newcomer services programs. The Early Childhood Educator will be responsible for coordinating activities,
and providing resource, referral and information to parents and caregivers. The Early Childhood Educator will also
build relationships with families and oversee the overall coordination of activities.
Major Responsibilities:
- To interact directly with the children, providing quality care and creative programming
- To establish and maintain positive daily communication and interaction with families and caregivers, providing quality customer service and building meaningful relationships
- To maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all activity and program areas, common spaces, and washrooms.
- To ensure that all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained according to YMCA requirements.
- To maintain confidentiality of all information related to the centre, the children, their families, and staff.
- To maintain regular attendance, punctuality and to be appropriately dressed and well groomed.
Requirements:
- Early Childhood Educator License to Practice required
- Special Needs and/or Infant/Toddler License(s) to Practice an asset
- Diplomas, certificates or other evidence of training related to child growth/development
- Experience working with children and families in a child care/recreational setting
- Current First Aid certificate
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date.
