Job description

Position Title: Early Childhood Educator, IT License Required
Location: Sechelt YMCA Child Care Centre, 5538 Shorncliffe Ave, Sechelt (Sunshine Coast)
Terms: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours of Work: 35 - 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday – Friday, shifts vary between 7:30AM - 6PM
Rate: $27.66 per hour for ECE IT License. (Includes $4 per hour Provincial Government’s Wage Enhancement)

Major Responsibilities:
  • Provide quality care and creative programming to children
  • Build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families
  • Work with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for both staff and families
  • Deliver high quality and age-appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum
  • Provide active supervision at all times and work as a team to support transitions between play areas
  • Use our parent communication app (Weemarkable) to provide daily communication and updates
  • Keep a clean and safe environment – in all program areas and common spaces (with enhanced cleaning protocols for COVID-19)
  • Follow all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL) and legal requirements, including YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum standards

Qualifications/Experience:
  • Basic ECE certification from a program recognized in British Columbia is required
  • Infant Toddler Educator (ITE) License is required
  • Special Needs Educator (SNE) is an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Any training related to child growth and development is an asset
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate required (can be obtained within 30 days after start date)
  • 3 professional reference checks to be completed
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
