Responsibilities
- Cooperate with administrators to ensure preschool operate smoothly;
- The director is able to consistently and successfully perform all essential functions of the position;
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff, children, and families;
- Implement and maintain the Preschool program philosophy, goals, and objectives;
- Implement early-age curriculum in accordance with directive guidelines
- Maintain children / teacher ratios at all times
- Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment in accordance with licensing standards
- Schedule work hours for teachers and co-teachers
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Track children’s progress and report to parents
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
- Collaborate with other educators
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Skills
- 12 core semester units’ early Childhood Development and 3 semester units in Administration or Staff Relations
- Five years teaching experience in a supervised group Child Care Center
- Complete 15 hours of health and safety training, including CPR and First Aid certification
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
- Certification in child CPR
- Valid license to practice profession
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour
