Job description
Applications are invited for the post of Preparing for Patients (PfP) Administrator within the Education Division of the School of Clinical Medicine on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This is a varied and interesting post that requires the successful candidate to be flexible as well as a committed member of a friendly and organised team. The Preparing for Patients programme provides clinical exposure to pre-clinical medical students and the role holder will assist with the day to day running of the programme.
The PfP Administrator will work closely with the PfP Coordinator to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of the PfP Programme, while maintaining the quality of the support provided to students, the PfP Module Organisers and Course Lead. The role holder will also assist with the recruitment of pregnant volunteers for the Preparing for Patients D Module.
The post holder will work closely with patients, senior academics, clinical and administrative staff throughout the Clinical School and in some local NHS trusts. The PfP programme is coordinated within the Clinical Communication Skills team and the role holder will work with and provide support as needed to the team.
Qualifications and Experience to include :
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics
- High standard of IT skills including word-processing (minimum RSA III or equivalent), E-mail, database, spreadsheet experience (Microsoft Office preferred). The ability to acquire skills for non-standard software applications such as Moodle (the Virtual Learning Environment)
- Web-authoring skills and experience
- Accurate, well organized, have good communication skills and the ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a team
- Previous experience of working within an office environment
University staff based on the Cambridge Biomedical Site have access to a range of on-site facilities including a shopping concourse, swimming pool, sports and social club and food mall.
The appointment will be to the retiring age subject to satisfactory completion of a probationary period.
