As such we are seeking to employ an aspirational and knowledgeable pre-school manager to join our school family and lead a dedicated and hard working team.
Our pre-school provides education for children aged 3 and 4 and plays a pivotal role in their early development - helping them to transition into the reception year. The early years provision at HCCPS encourages each child to be a confident and curious learner and our children will never fail to make you smile each and every day!
With the pre-school being part of the school, it enables the children to not only have access to our school resources, such as the hall, library, wildlife area (to name but a few), but also allows them join in with whole school events eg. harvest festivals, traditional tales week and the school productions. This collaboration leads to a good transition into reception and school life.
We are seeking to employ a manager who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and who has a passion for child development.
We are looking for someone who:
· Has experience of leading and managing a successful early year’s team
· Is passionate about child development and who has a strong vision for engaging staff and parents to secure a successful future for the pre-school
· Demonstrates innovative practice, leadership and management skills
· Is self-motivated and enthusiastic with good interpersonal skills
· Has a detailed knowledge of all current legislation relevant to the early years setting
· Can demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of the revised EYFS framework
· Demonstrates excellent planning, leadership and management skills
· Support the school’s ethos and values
· Will liaise with parents and carers, informing them of their child’s progress and development

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Pre-school Manager
BASED: Hardwick and Cambourne Primary School, Cambourne Campus
RESPONSIBLE TO: Headteacher
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Providing quality education and care for children aged 3-4yrs
Developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in
their child’s development
JOB PURPOSE: To provide inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the Pre-school and to maintain a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment.
To provide overall management of the Pre-school staff team, ensuring legal requirements and quality standards are met at all times, and to provide ongoing supervision and support for the staff team.

MAIN DUTIES
The main duties of the Pre-school Manager are as follows.
PLANNING, CURRICULUM AND DAY-TO-DAY RUNNING OF PRE-SCHOOL:
- Manage the Pre-school and undertake all the necessary duties on a day-to-day basis
- Take overall responsibility for drawing up long-, medium- and short-term plans that ensure that each child is working towards desirable learning outcomes within the EYFS curriculum, and monitor the effectiveness of the pre-school curriculum
- Lead regular staff/planning meetings
- Be responsible for providing high-quality teaching, ensuring that staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children
- Be responsible for implementing systems of observations and record-keeping, so that children’s attainment and progress is effectively and regularly assessed, and monitor the effectiveness of the assessment procedures
- Ensure records are properly maintained (e.g. attendance register, accident & incident book)
- Ensure that the Pre-school is a safe environment for children, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, and safety procedures are implemented at all times
- Keep up-to-date with current safeguarding practices, and be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the
Pre-school
- Take on the role of SENDCO for the Pre-school
- To act as a key person to a small group of children and to ensure their needs are reflected in the planning of routines and activities, liaising regularly with parents/carers about their children’s needs, interests and progress
LIAISON:
- Liaise closely with all parents/carers, informing them about the Pre-school and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parental involvement
- Work in partnership with the school’s senior management to update and review policies and procedures in line with Pre-school development and self-evaluation
- Liaise with the head teacher, EYFS lead, social services and other professionals as necessary, ensuring that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented, and provide reports to those professionals as required
- Ensure effective communication occurs between the Pre-school and the Primary School
- Liaise with the School Business Manager and Pre-school admin staff members as necessary in regard to staffing, numbers, funding etc.
MANAGING STAFF:
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to match OFSTED’s requirements are maintained at all times
- Organise and be responsible for implementing the key worker system, whereby qualified staff members are responsible for working closely with a particular group or groups of children
- Supervise staff on a daily basis, and supervise volunteers and students on placements and work experience in the setting
- Be responsible for monitoring the quality of teaching and learning and contribute to the primary school's development plan and evaluation form
- Plan for and carry out the induction of new and returning staff
- Carry out staff supervisions, and contribute to and attend own supervisions
- Carry out annual staff appraisals and to write staff development plans.
- Inform the School Business Manager regarding absences and overtime, to deal with any queries or discrepancies that arise.
- Follow staff grievance procedures and staff disciplinary procedures in line with policy
