Job description
To work in a supernumerary status to attain a Registered Midwifery qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of the United Kingdom. To communicate effectively with women and their families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stages under the supervision of the Registered Midwife. To diagnose pregnancy, assess and monitor women holistically throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stages through the use of a range of assessment methods and reach valid, reliable and comprehensive conclusions under the supervision of the Registered Midwife. To work towards achievement of the standards of proficiency for midwives that are contained in the Midwifery Ongoing Record of Achievement (MORA) practice assessment documents and set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
To work towards achieving experience under supervision of the activities of the midwife as outlined in the European Union Midwives Directive (80/155/EEC Article 4). Be aware of the grievances, bullying and harassment and complaints procedure. Ensure that all Trust mandatory training is up to date. To follow the Trust absence policy when required including sickness and annual leave.
Encourage an open attitude in working relationships with colleagues and clients. To always comply with any regulations issued by the Trust especially those governing Health and Safety at Work and Infection Prevention and Control to ensure that any defects, which may affect safety at work, are brought to the attention of the appropriate manager. To be actively involved in all cleaning and infection control tasks undertaken within Ward/Department. To ensure that all staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to embedding recommended Health and Safety guidelines.
