About the Role
Stowhealth is looking for an enthusiastic paramedic to join our team, for between 30-35 hours per week.
The main duties of the role include:
- Providing assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact, by attending to patients, according to their needs, either in the practice sites or patients' homes;
- Acting as an autonomous clinician, with support and guidance from the GPs;
- Proactively identifying, diagnosing and managing treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition (as appropriate);
- Diagnosing and managing both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug and non-drug based treatment methods into a management plan;
- Accurately triaging and prioritising patients, including in emergency situations, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event or illness, including past medical and drug history;
- Recognising, assessing and referring patients presenting with mental health needs.
Shortlisting will be on 19th April with interviews week commencing 24th April. The interview panel will consist of a minimum of 2 people.
About the Candidate
- Registered paramedic with HCPC
- Minimum of three years post registration with demonstrable experience of using diagnostic skills
- Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients
- Able to provide clear, useful guidance and reports, on complex matters, to stakeholders at all levels
- Evidence of excellent clinical record keeping
- Ability to support patients during acute episodes of illness and helping them to self-manage long-term conditions where feasible
- Evidence of excellent communication skills, including diplomacy and negotiation skills
- Understanding of social determinants of health and how these can be addressed with patients
- High levels of health literacy
- Awareness of local services and resources for individuals, carers and families
- Advanced clinical practitioner or advanced level functional assessment qualification
- Assessor/mentorship course
- Evidence of working in a community or primary care setting
- Experience in teaching & supporting junior staff and students
- Excellent motivational and influencing skills
- Knowledge of a range of technology and digital tools that can be used support health and wellbeing
- Sound understanding of disease prevention (primary, secondary and tertiary) and how patients can build prevention into their lifestyle
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and SystmOne
- Understanding of current issues facing the NHS
