Power BI Developer, Insurance

London/Hybrid

Circa £90k + bonus + benefits

Power BI Developer with an Insurance background is required by a fast-growth and employee-focused City Insurance group. You will join their Data Analytics team which seek to create the competitive advantage through industry leading decision making enabled by comprehensive data and cross functional analytics.

This role will see you engaging with the internal Data team to identify and transform data ready for consumption, build out data models and KPIs from within PBI and present clear and insightful dashboards for the functions to consume.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate business needs to technical specifications
  • Design, build and deploy BI solutions and reporting
  • Maintain and support data analytics Platform
  • Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems and reporting
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
  • Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses
  • Create visualizations and reports for requested projects
  • Develop and update technical documentation

Skills Required:

  • Several years’ experience in Power BI report building, as a BI Developer or Data Scientist, within Insurance sector, with a robust knowledge base on: custom visuals, dynamic reporting, best practices data modelling, performance oriented apps, row level security
  • Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Oracle BI)
  • Ability to take client requirements, understand them and turn them into a powerful story told through engaging visuals in Power BI
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and databases including: SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Proficient in writing SQL, DAX, and M
  • Knowledge of SSAS (Tabular and Multi-dimensional) , Flow and Power Apps beneficial
  • Ability to design, build, and deploy interactive user interfaces for interrogating data
  • Well-rounded problem-solving skills and DAX / data modelling
  • Experience managing major, long-term projects in a fast-moving environment
  • A track record of working in an agile environment (Scrum)
