Contract type: Fixed Term Contract for up to 2 years in the first instance
Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
About the role
We are seeking to appoint two Postdoctoral Research Associates to join the team of Prof. Elena Seiradake. The Seiradake group specialises in structural biology, cell biology and neurobiology, providing access to expertise and training in these areas. These roles will focus on the functions of brain receptors in nervous system development. The work will involve some or all of the following methods: single particle cryo-electron microscopy, cryo-electron tomography, X-ray crystallography, surface plasmon resonance, protein engineering, mammalian cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, immunostaining.
These full-time fixed-term posts are funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 2 years in the first instance. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
About you
You should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil, in a subject area involving structural biology, and have excellent relevant skills in cryo-electron microscopy, surface plasmon resonance, protein engineering, mammalian cell culture, fluorescence microscopy and immunostaining. A good publication record (taking the career stage into account) is expected. You should be well-trained, enthusiastic and self-motivated, with excellent team-working and interpersonal skills. You should also have excellent communication skills. You may be required to travel overseas to conduct collaborative experiments as and when necessary to advance the research project.
