Introduction
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to recruit to the position of Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join the Department of Psychological Therapies at Thornford Park Hospital.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team to support patients on a specialised 14-bedded low secure service for males with a primary diagnosis of ASD in addition to supporting patients across the wider hospital. The post holder will form an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team, working to enhance the lives of the patient group and support them to progress through their care pathway.
We are looking for a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner with experience of working with adults with ASD and/or forensic mental health experience to join our friendly team in secure services. Secure services has a team of therapists including psychologists, art therapists, drama therapists, speech & language therapists, and trainee/assistant psychologists with expertise in working with people with a wide range of presenting difficulties, including violent offender, sex offending, substance use problems, personality disorder, and enduring mental health difficulties.
Training opportunities will be available for the successful candidate along with monthly clinical supervision and management supervision.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Autonomous in managing your own caseload, which will involve working with complex service-users.
- Attending regular clinical and service development meetings, such as MDT’s, CTR’s, referrals, and other hospital-wide meetings
- Be an integral part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team
- Leading on the assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Positive Behaviour Support plans for patients with ASD who have challenging behaviour and/or mental health needs.
- Maintaining monthly clinical supervision as well as regular line-management supervision
- Providing professional advice in finding resolutions to problems/challenges – with the emphasis on improving service-user experience.
- Providing both written & verbal contributions to MDT & CTR process
- Supporting the MDT in the development and review of care plans
- Liaising with external agencies to support patient’s care pathways
- Contributing to professional development within the team
- Contributing to teaching around ASD and PBS.
- Contributing to audit and research as directed by the line manager
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A recognised qualification in PBS
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent self-presentation
- Good knowledge of PBS theory/practice
- Previous working experience post qualified
- Experience of working in a health setting
- Experience in applying the Care Programme Approach
