Youth Connect South West is looking to recruit a Key Worker to support the Alternative Education team, part of an ever-growing exciting charity that works with young people within Bath and North East Somerset, alongside the running of community venues in Bath. The role is part time and open to a flexible working pattern.
Learning for Work is a bespoke education provision for young people who cannot access a mainstream college course. The course is for young people who have previously had disrupted schooling, these young people will often have Social, Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The young people on the course will have an active Education Health and Care plan (EHCP). The programme is delivered in partnership with Bath College and tailored around the needs of the young person with a focus on developing positive relationships and improving confidence and self-esteem.

Staff build genuine and supportive relationships with students, modelling resilience and determination and not giving up, providing young people with the support they need, when they need it. Positive Activity Workers ensure students are kept safe, working collaboratively with families, carers and other professionals. The programme offers an individualised, inclusive, creative curriculum, helping students work towards their goals and become the people they want to be.
To provide support to individual young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and help address any barriers they may face. These students may range from 16 to 24 years old.
You will be working as part of a team to support the young people to access a range of educational opportunities via the Learning for Work course. Working alongside the young person and their Key Worker, you will identify positive activities and support the young person to access these.
These activities may include art and craft sessions, sports activities, well-being activities such as mindfulness, support with learning and developing life skills such as cookery or budgeting.
These are part-time, term time positions.
