Job Overview/Purpose of the Role/ Key Responsibilities
The Portfolio Services Group (PSG) are responsible for supporting the UK & European Equity Portfolio Managers with the implementation of their portfolios. This includes both retail & institutional equity portfolios as well as Fund of Funds.
The group acts as a conduit between the Portfolio Manager and other business areas including Equity Trading, Compliance and Institutional & Retail Operations.
This function excludes equity research and trade execution, and this role should not be seen as a route into Research or Trading.
The purpose of the role is to assist the PSG team with daily operational activity. This mainly includes cash management and order generation for the European-based Portfolio managers.
Key responsibilities include:
Review and analyse daily cash flows and large deal warnings. Where necessary communicate to relevant Portfolio Managers and compile any necessary trade lists, taking into account PM instructions, fund restrictions, client requirements and current cash levels
Dealing with other cash management issues such as overdrafts, high cash, market settlement issues and restricted currencies
Monitor for any Pre-Trade Compliance alerts within Charles River, investigate and clear as required
Review outstanding corporate actions, investigate tax issues and ensure timely response from Portfolio Managers
Analyse the impact of any in-specie transfers on the incoming/outgoing fund, and prepare transition wish lists as required
Providing support and advice with regards to projects such as launches, mergers and new market processes
Required credentials (experience and qualifications)
Experience within an investment management group in either investments, equity operations or fund administration
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organisation
Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
Investment Management Certificate (IMC) qualification or ability to complete within 6 months
Ability to work under pressure, prioritise work within tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
A good understanding of investments and a keen interest the investment process
Strong PC skills especially Excel
