We’re looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager to join our Optimisation Portfolio Management team, that can help us meet our ambitions for growth and help move energy into a fully renewable future.

Join us at Centrica Energy Trading (CET) as our new Portfolio Manager, where you’ll be providing the energy market expertise to help deliver on our long-term strategy of being the No. 1 Renewable Energy Trader in Europe and world-class globally. You will to involved in the future of energy and work in a vibrant business environment with some of the world's biggest investors and businesses looking to re-shape the energy industry and move towards a low carbon economy.

Our team is responsible for the portfolio of flexible assets in CET with specific focus on the UK market, covering consumption, production, and storage assets, such as large-scale batteries, electrolysers, electric boilers, and different types of hybrid installations.

You will participate in the creation of the best value propositions for our clients and drive development of the finest valuation and pricing engine in the industry, that continuously shapes and supports the valuation needs of changing physical energy products and solutions.

And you will work in a team with highly skilled portfolio managers and quantitative analysts in an environment with emphasis on teamwork and knowledge sharing.

The position is based out of one of our offices, preferably in London, or alternatively in one of our other offices in Antwerp, Copenhagen, or Aalborg. We are also very happy to talk about flexible working.

Make an impact as our next energy market and commercial expert

As our new Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for the profitable growth of our flexible asset portfolio.

You will ensure profitable contracts with third-party asset owners through precise physical risk valuation, pricing, portfolio optimization and improvement of internal management processes.

You are a market and product expert, and you will have a central role in making sure this critical understanding is kept updated and cascaded across the organization.

With your constant eye to the market development and valuation competencies, a part of your role will be to take part in cross-functional business and product development activities.

An in-field strategic player with strong market understanding and the ability to engage

Your finest and most important task is naturally centered around our portfolio - pricing physical energy solutions and cases in different European markets, following up on the performance of our physical asset portfolios, and providing suggestions and actions to optimize these. Further tasks include:

• Follow up on regulatory and market changes; and work with relevant internal and external stakeholders to implement rules that benefit our products, technology, and portfolio Staying up to speed with market developments and engaging in product and business development initiatives and task forces

• Work with trading teams to follow up on PnL performance and identify actions to improve performance.

• Consult with traders and analytics teams to improve day to day operations, and driving the improvement of cross-value chain performance

• Aligning valuation, product and pricing solutions with Asset Structuring and Hedging, as well as with our Origination teams and take responsibility for pricing requests from our sales team

• Support in the development and implementation of new markets

Proactive and analytically minded team player with knowledge of physical power markets including ancillary services markets.

We expect that you hold a degree with focus on analytical subjects, and some experience as a power trader or portfolio manager from a similar position.

With your knowledge of physical power markets, you understand the drivers of the energy market as well as the changes and transition that will impact the industry in the coming years. You take a holistic approach to the role, keeping a keen eye on physical market risks, but also assessing other factors in your analytical work.

On a personal level you work independently and proactively, and you write and speak English fluently to communicate across all layers of the organization, across cultures and with external market players.
