About the Job

UEL (University of East London) IT Services is a centralized resource working collaboratively with the University community to transform UEL’s digital landscape in line with the University’s Vision 2028 strategic plan. Engaging in ground-breaking initiatives delivered within a dynamically developing cloud environment.

The PMO Lead is a key member of the Portfolio Management Office team. This team is responsible for defining and maintaining the standards for portfolio management within the wider IT Projects Team.

The PMO Lead will be responsible for:

  • Driving development and adoption of good practice within the IT Projects Team
  • Collaborating with IT Department and other UEL Department’s Stakeholders to support the Associate Director of Projects with the definition, prioritisation, and production of the IT project roadmap.
  • Coaching Project Managers in the project delivery lifecycle expectations and the PMO controls for their projects, including stage gate preparation.
  • Oversight of projects’ delivery status, RAIDD (risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and decisions) plans, change, and budgets to ensure effective management of interdependencies, critical paths, benefits, escalations, and intervention to senior leadership as required.
  • Leadership and Line Management of the PMO Analysts.

About You

As an experienced PMO lead you possess extensive knowledge of project, programme, and portfolio management practices, standards, and methodologies. Alongside significant expertise in defining, implementing, and embedding best practice PMO governance processes.

You will have substantial experience of planning and monitoring projects and analysing project performance ,demonstrable experience in budget forecasting and reporting.

You have demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders across different levels of the organisation from a broad range of contexts plus experience of working in a fast-paced environment with high levels of change.
