Job Title: Hospital PorterTrust Location: Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading RG1 5ANPatient Contact & Transfer ServicesShift Pattern: Service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a weekMust be able for Days, Nights and Weekends shifts on a RotaHours: 12-hour shifts depending on departmental needs.Payrate: Band 2 - £11.45 per hour plus enhanced pay for weekends, nights, and bank holidaysAre you interested in working in your local NHS Trust as a porter? A Trust that recently had outstanding in their CQC report?If you answered yes, then we would love to hear from you!We require several Hospital Porters for ongoing long-term placements that may turn permanent depending upon performance, starting immediately.This is a role that would suit someone looking to join their local NHS hospital or someone looking to earn additional income alongside other employed work.Responsibilities will cover several areas such as:To provide a porter and messenger service, including the transfer of patients and visitors between wards and departments including A&E admissions to wards and transfers between A&E, X-ray, and wards.To transfer beds, cots, mattresses, furniture, drip stands, pump and other portable equipment and machineryTo ensure safety of staff and visitorsThe operation of certain machinery such as the computer and associate softwareTo assist in adhering to the correct procedure regarding the removal of deceased personsTo maintain confidentialityThe skills required are:You must be able to work on your feet for 12 hour shifts and be physically able to work at pace.No experience necessary – Full training will be given.Happy to be in a fast-paced physical role.Ability to be a fast learner with a desire to help local NHS functioning.Able to take directions and instructions.Good communication skills.Eye for detail.A good understanding of spoken and written English.About UsRoyal Berkshire Hospital in Reading is easily accessible via both car and public transport.
