Job introduction Political Assistant to the Green Group Job Share 18.5 hours per week Interview date: week commencing 21st August 2023 Salary M9 (£43,516 - £44,539) pro rata An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with a keen political instinct and great communication skills to work with the Green Group of Councillors at Brighton & Hove City Council. Brighton and Hove's Green councillors are looking for a Political Assistant (Job Share) to support our work and communicate our priorities to the City. About the role The role will involve: Assisting councillors with the preparation for Council meetings by ensuring they are fully briefed and ready to make their contributions at Committees and Full Council. Leading on the production of strong external communications (such as press releases and media briefings) to celebrate the work of the Green Group of councillors Identifying and researching issues facing the city as they emerge and working with councillors on plans to address them and communicate a response. Providing administrative support to councillors where required About you: Working closely with the Leader and Deputy Leaders of the Green Group, you will be excited about making a difference to people living and working in Brighton and Hove. You will share our ambitious vision of a fairer, more sustainable city where people and businesses can thrive. You will have a commitment to the politics and policies of the Green Party and experience of working in a political environment. You will have good attention to detail and feel confident about giving sound political advice based on your research and your knowledge of issues affecting the City and politics. You will be a skilled communicator with experience of drafting news articles, blogs, statements and quotes as well as using social media effectively and making short films for use online. You will be approachable and an effective team worker who is able to build strong relationships with Green Party members, journalists, residents, businesses and the community.
