About the role
The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking a Policy Engagement Officer to work with Prof. Lucie Cluver’s Research and Policy teams and to be part of the Accelerate Hub, a five-year research programme jointly led by the University of Oxford and Cape Town running from 2019-24. The original objective of the Hub was to improve the lives and development outcomes of twenty million African adolescents, which has already been surpassed. Critical to the Hub’s success, has been our ability to support the uptake of the team’s research and influence policy and practice in relation to adolescent wellbeing.
The role of the policy engagement officer will be to support the uptake of Hub evidence from trials and studies to inform global, regional and national initiatives on vulnerable children and adolescents. The post holder will coordinate the production of policy communications such as research and policy briefs, knowledge sharing events, and other advocacy materials. They will also support: the content development for the Hub’s website and social media; the development of knowledge products to inform policymakers and programmers, and; packaging and summarising evidence drawing on Hub findings, systematic reviews and the wider body of evidence on adolescent wellbeing. The post holder will also ensure progress is captured through our monitoring and evaluation systems and support reporting to donors about our policy impact.
About you
You will have a passion for international development, a background in policy, advocacy or influencing, and experience in developing policy communications. You will hold, or be close to completion of a postgraduate degree in a subject relevant to the work of the Accelerate Hub such as public health, economics, social and political sciences, development studies and social work. You will have a strong interest in human rights (including gender equality and child rights) child protection, adolescent development, and international development.

You will be based in Oxford as your normal place of work however there is opportunity for remote working.
