Job description
A great opportunity has risen for a new Policy and Public Affairs Officer in our Devolved Nations team to help us raise the profile of lung health and air pollution in Wales.
Asthma + Lung UK is the only charity in the UK fighting for everyone with a lung condition, aiming for a world where everyone can breathe with healthy lungs. We fund cutting-edge research, provide advice and support for the 12 million people who will get a lung condition during their lifetime. We also campaign for clean air and for better NHS diagnosis and treatment.
You will be responsible for working with politicians and civil servants, leading health and air pollution campaigns, working in alliances with other charities and looking for opportunities to raise awareness of the challenges that people living with lung conditions face. You will be representing the charity and the voices of people with lung conditions in the Senedd and in the media.
You will have experience influencing members of the Senedd and developing both policies and campaigns. You will be confident, creative and a good self-motivator. You will possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak Welsh. You will have organisational skills and an ability to plan and develop successful influencing campaigns.
One of our strategic aims is to tackle health inequalities, particularly around health outcomes for people from minority ethnic groups, and so we'd therefore particularly welcome applications from people from those backgrounds.
As well as a competitive salary, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits including 30 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), membership of a health cash plan, employee assistance programme, cycle-to-work scheme, interest-free annual season Travelcard loan and pension scheme. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an organisation committed to being the driving force behind the transformation of lung health.
