Introduction
The Parliamentary Security Department (PSD) is responsible for physical and personnel security across both Houses of Parliament and provides support to Members and staff when away from the Estate. Its purpose is to keep Parliament safe and open for business.
The Role
PSD are looking to appoint to this role within its Members Security Support Service (MSSS). The role holder will work closely as part of the MSSS team to support and advise Members and their staff on accessing the appropriate security away from the estate. The role holder will be able to respond to queries from Members and their staff on policy decisions and provide clear and concise advice.
MSSS are currently working in a shadow year with the Independent Parliamentary Standards’ Authority (IPSA), with transition of the security budget expected to move from IPSA into Parliament from April 2023. This new role will be an integral part of the pre-transition work, through delivery and helping to embed the end-to-end processes.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience and understanding of financial processes, including using financial systems for requisitioning and processing of payments.
- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to work independently and deliver a large volume of high-quality work in a timely way.
- Effective written and oral communication skills and ability to explain complex information in understandable and meaningful ways.
- Demonstrable ability to establish credibility quickly and confidently.
- Ability to work flexibly and effectively as part of a team, with both internal and external teams and stakeholders.
