Job Title: Policy Intern - Impacts
Hours of work: full time, 37 hours per week
Pay: Real living wage £10.90 per hour (£11.95 London)
Contract: 10 weeks, July to September
Can you distil scientific research into potential actions? Butterflies and moths and among the most threatened groups of wildlife in the UK. The national picture is one of serious, long-term and ongoing decline. We know that when we invest time, resources and knowledge into a problem we can deliver positive outcomes. But there are still too many barriers at a policy and advocacy level. We have now reached the point where we need to see a step change in effort if we are to help deliver a healthy and functioning environment for future generations.
This is a really exciting time to be joining us, we are developing our policy work and launching advocacy campaigns to tackle the chief drivers of decline in butterfly and moth populations. We are offering a unique opportunity for a Policy Internship at Butterfly Conservation to undertake reviews of both the scientific literature as it relates to impacts of light pollution on moths, and practical experiments on implementing artificial lighting changes. You will need experience of undertaking literature reviews and the ability to turn the results into real life proposals for change.
