The Office of the Fayette County Sheriff seeks to hire a Law Enforcement Dispatcher

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- The Law Enforcement Dispatcher must be committed to serving our community with honor, courage, and integrity, while enhancing the quality of life in our community.
- The Law Enforcement Dispatcher position is subject to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and call back duty.
- The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for operating a centralized telephone switchboard, referring incoming calls, and operating radio/telephone recording equipment.
- The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for answering telephones and radio calls and accurately relaying information from citizens to deputies and other law enforcement agencies.
- The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for entering information into the NCIC/LINK System and the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is responsible for maintaining a computerized shift log, maintaining extensive case jacket filing systems, and monitoring court room panic alarm systems.
- The Law Enforcement Dispatcher is expected to understand how to prioritize and respond to conflicting needs for service/information from the general public and deputies in the field.
- The Law Enforcement Dispatcher must be able to maintain control and composure in situations ranging from antagonistic telephone callers to life threatening emergencies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must have a high level of professionalism.
- Must be able to multi-task in a stressful working environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be a High School Graduate or have a GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and shall not have been convicted of a felony offense or any violent offense (misdemeanor or felony).
- Have not been terminated or forced to resign within the twelve months preceding the submission of the application.
- Have been a law abiding citizen and maintained a law-abiding lifestyle.
