Job description
If you don’t have a degree and you’re not planning on studying for one, you can still become a police officer in Hertfordshire.
Our Initial Police Learning and Development Programme (IPLDP+) is the traditional entry route for joining the police and provides an excellent opportunity for those who do not have a degree to be employed as an officer from day one.
This route is gradually being phased out but is still available for a limited time in Herts as the licence has been extended.
Recruits receive on-the-job experience, blended with classroom and practical learning.
You gain a Level 3 Qualification in Professional Policing Practice after two years.
As a Herts police officer you’re treated as an individual, not a number. We're small enough to care, but big enough to give you a varied career. There are a vast number of opportunities on offer, from becoming a detective to a dog handler, armed response or neighbourhood officer.
Oh, and we pay more than most other police forces. Apply now and you could be in uniform and training by summer 2023, earning £29,682 from day one.
Applicants should have passes in English (Language or Literature) and Mathematics GCSE (A*-C/9-4) or equivalent Level 2 qualifications (for example O-Levels or CSEs Grade 1). However, good candidates will be considered even if they do not have GCSE mathematics and English.
You will be welcomed, whatever your background, and supported throughout the programme by our friendly teams.
