The team writes speeches and articles, including long-form social media posts, for the CEO, Chair and Executive Committee; we edit and write Shell’s major reports; and we manage, edit, and write digital content for our global website, Shell.com. We produce stories for our award-winning digital channel, Inside Energy, and we run The Energy Podcast.

What’s the role?

This is a fixed-term role for 18 months based in our London office. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working with Corporate Relations colleagues across Shell’s businesses to create episode briefs for The Energy Podcast that communicate Shell’s strategy and role within the energy transition, while appealing to a broad external audience
  • Researching topics and views around the energy transition, writing scripts, and identifying and co-ordinating internal and external guests
  • Working with the production agency and other members of the Editorial team to edit episodes to a high standard;
  • Overseeing the legal and media approvals process, and supporting social media promotion;
  • Using data-driven insights to improve the performance of The Energy Podcast and shape its strategy going forward.

You will:

  • Develop and co-ordinate the production of podcast episodes, in collaboration with other teams;
  • Handle tight deadlines and work at speed while maintaining quality;
  • Be a strong team player able to work across cultures and diverse backgrounds and with virtual teams.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Strong and proven skills in broadcast or audio editing (in native-level English);
  • Potential and determination to develop further as a podcast editor to produce high-quality content;
  • An understanding of how to engage audiences using audio;
  • The ability to get things done to tight deadlines, but remain calm under pressure;
  • A creative and proactive approach to identifying and developing podcast episodes that appeal to a global audience;
  • Experience of hosting or presenting podcasts would be an advantage but is not essential.

If you don't see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed on the posting above, we still encourage you to reach out and apply. Research has shown that not everyone often applies when they do not feel 100% qualified. We are committed to creating a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse company and we strongly encourage applicants of all genders, ages, ethnicities, cultures, abilities, sexual orientation, and life experiences to apply. We look forward to receiving your application.

Flexible working

We are keen to support flexible working arrangements, subject to local regulations and legislative frameworks. If this is of interest to you, please describe in your application the type of flexible working arrangements for which you would like to be considered (e.g., part-time, job share).
