Summary of Role Purpose
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager to join our Project Management in Audit Centre of Excellence (PMinA CoE). The purpose of the PMinA CoE is to support seamless delivery in our Audit practice by promoting excellence in project management, to enable sustainable Audit Quality and Growth.
As a PMO Assistant Manager, you will be working within allocated audit engagement teams, providing a range of standardised PMO services, with a focus on providing consistent and high quality service. By being embedded within the audit teams, this will help you to develop a deep understanding of the team and the audit engagement, and to deliver tailored PMO services that best meet their needs.
You will work as part of a team led by a Project Manager delivering your own in-scope tasks, and you may also be required to co-ordinate and oversee the work of offshore junior team members.
This is a key role in helping the business to achieve our vision of being the most trusted audit firm, by our regulators, the businesses we audit, investors, the public and our people.

Description of the Role
- Supporting audit engagement teams through the provision and coordination of a range of standardised PMO services.
- Applying your knowledge and understanding of audit engagement teams, leadership and wider contacts in the execution of day-to-day support to ensure KPMG planning requirements and deadlines are achieved, and Audit Quality standards and Service Level Agreements are met. Key activities include:
- engagement finance (e.g., including support with budget preparation and ongoing oversight of engagement financials).
- group instructions management (e.g., working collaboratively with the engagement to plan the audit in sufficient detail to ensure integration of all activities, specialist teams and stakeholders in order to create a valid plan).
- decision support (e.g., advising the engagement leadership to take appropriate action where there are deviations from the audit plan and timeline).
- stakeholder relationship management (e.g., ensuring effective communication is maintained throughout the project).
- developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a broad range of colleagues and stakeholders, including members of the programme management team, Senior Managers, Directors, Partners, project teams and 3rd party service providers.
- administrative support.
- Co-ordinating and supervising offshore KPMG PMO resources. This will include reviewing their work outputs to ensure appropriate level of quality and providing coaching and mentoring support.
- There may also be an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing improvement of internal project management products, services and processes.
Technical core competencies required for the role

The relevant competencies for this role are:
- Technology skills : Drives engagement compliance with firm-approved audit tools (e.g., KcW, & AOEP delivered tools) and innovative technology solutions to increase audit quality, productivity, and data insights.
- Professional scepticism & issue identification : Applies professional scepticism, objectivity and independence to identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of the audit approach. This will include the timely identification, tracking and resolution of audit issues, internally & externally through working collaboratively with audit engagement stakeholders.
- Engagement management : Supports the engagement leadership (RI, Engagement Manager(s)) in managing and executing the engagement in accordance with firm wide quality standards, milestones and budgets.
- Documentation : Ensures completion of appropriate audit and engagement documentation relevant to role, demonstrating an unwavering focus on audit quality. This will include Project Management in Audit approved templates as defined in the Project Management in Audit Service Catalogue.

Experience and Knowledge Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in the successful delivery of projects or programmes. (E)
- Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, data analysis, reporting etc., including risk management. (E)
- Good knowledge and demonstrable use of project and programme management methodology and techniques. (E)
- Stakeholder management experience, including identification of appropriate business development opportunities. (E)
- Experience of managing teams, coaching and mentoring junior staff. (D)
