ZigZag Childcare, Horsham - RH12 Term-time up to 22.5 hours p.w. (Monday to Friday) School Holidays up to 36 hours p.w. (Monday to Thursday) Hourly rate dependent on qualifications and experience (plus holiday pay) Bank staff positions
ZigZag is a friendly, supportive and professional childcare organisation, offering high quality wrap-around childcare and playwork for children aged 4-11 years across Sussex. We are looking for enthusiastic and caring playwork assistants to join our growing childcare team!
Job Role: To assist with the provision and delivery of childcare and playwork for our busy and well-regarded out of school clubs (breakfast, after school and holiday playschemes) for children aged 4-11 yrs. To plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate a broad and creative range of stimulating activities. To actively liaise with parents and carers and staff team members on a day-to-day basis and ensure the environment is warm and welcoming, safe and secure and keeps to high standards of tidiness, cleanliness, welfare and safeguarding. Contribute to the promotion of ZigZag’s friendly, positive and professional childcare service which keeps children and families at the heart of all we do.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare and deliver a broad and creative range of stimulating activities suitable for 4-11 year olds, which are safe, creative and age-appropriate, in line with Ofsted EYFS and/or Playwork Principles.
· Make certain that all children feel welcome, settled and secure. Set exceptionally high standards for interacting with them in a kind and positive way and as appropriate for their age and stage of development.
· Complete relevant childcare paperwork and documentation in line with various procedures and work practices, including health and safety checklists, planning forms and evaluations and child observations.
· Be highly vigilant and observant particularly in relation to safety, behaviour management and safeguarding; record and report any concerns or issues immediately to the Senior Playworker and director.
· Proactively liaise with all team members, school staff, parents and carers, and encourage positive parental involvement, speaking daily to parents/carers as they collect their children and sharing information about the session and their child’s participation.
· Collaborative team-working to ensure utmost standards of hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety are adhered to daily.
· Ensure the safe use and care of the premises and ZigZag equipment and report any incidents, hazards or damaged equipment to managers.
· Prepare refreshments including light snacks, drinks and hot meals the winter months.
· Contribute to ZigZag newsletter and/or bulletin boards.
· Attend team meetings, one-to-one supervision and other meetings as required.
· Take up appropriate staff development and training as directed by the manger/director.
· Consistently and professionally promote and work in accordance with the ZigZag Childcare Code of Conduct and the organisation’s aims and objectives.
· Actively promote equalities in accordance with ZigZag Childcare policies and procedures.
· Carry out any other appropriate duties as directed by the senior/manager/director to support and promote the work of ZigZag Childcare, in accordance with the post holder’s capabilities.
· Cover own and others’ shifts where possible and appropriate.
