Job description
We are seeking one or more Playworkers for our out of school care service.
Would suit:
- applicants looking for a permanent part time position
- applicants who currently work in a nursery and are looking for additional hours
Applications for term time only hours will also be considered
Hourly Rate:
£11.07 to £11.83
Various working patterns available:
- School Term Time: On a rota basis between the hours of 3pm and 6pm (actual hours worked will be from 2 to 3 hours per day).
- School Term Time: 3pm to 4pm for school collection only
- School Holidays: On a rota basis between the hours of 8am and 6pm (actual hours worked will be 6 to 8 hours per day)
A flexible 16 hours contract can be offered to applicants interested in working both term time and school holidays.
You should possess or be currently working towards:
- HNC Childhood Practice /SVQ3 Playwork
- Any other equivalent qualification at Level 3 or above which complies with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration requirements for workers in a day care of children setting.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Together with colleagues:
- Develop and lead activities which are exciting, stimulating and responsive to the needs of individual children
- Collect children by foot from local schools and escort them safely to the service base
- Maintain toys, equipment, and premises to a clean, safe and hygienic standard. Work with other staff to set up and clear away mobile furniture, toys and equipment at the beginning and end of each session.
The successful applicant will be required to join the PVG scheme or apply for an update and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). The cost will be met by the organisation.

Playcare is a successful and well-established community out of school childcare service for children of primary school age. Based in the Murray area of East Kilbride, we are open approximately 51 weeks of the year, providing a range of indoor and outdoor activities from our well-equipped premises.
