Job description
South Gloucestershire
Job Summary
Support disabled children and young people at learning disability charity Brandon Trust’s holiday play schemes; it’s a rewarding role where you choose to work the days, schemes and venues that suit you.
Children enjoy fun activities at schemes that run in the February, Easter, May, summer and October school holidays in Yate, Bradley Stoke, Staple Hill and Thornbury. The play schemes operate Monday to Friday in summer and Easter school holidays and three days a week in other school holidays. Hours of work are generally 9:00am – 3:30pm, although there may be the occasional longer day.
We work with children and vulnerable people, so our clearance processes can take some time; apply now for the opportunity to work on our schemes this summer and beyond.
About the role
Brandon exists to enable children, young people and adults with a learning disability, autism, or both, to live life in the way they choose. We provide high-quality, individualised support to around 1,600 people and have a staff team of over 2,000. Operating across southern England and London, support is provided by a widely dispersed workforce, including public spaces and the homes of the people we support.
About you
You\'ll have experience of engaging with children in a play environment (preferably children / young people with additional needs aged 5 to 18 years). Enthusiastic about working with children, you’re a good team player, able to use your initiative and work independently. An excellent communicator, you have ideas for children’s activities and respect their individuality. You’re also reliable and have a flexible approach.
You’ll need a good standard of education and an awareness of children’s safeguarding procedures. Qualifications in childcare, manual handling and first aid are desirable but not essential. You will need to complete our essential E-learning and safeguarding training before working.
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure with Adults\' and Childrens\' barred list for Children Services, which we will cover the cost.
Brandon reserves the right to close this vacancy when sufficient applications have been received.
We are an Equal Opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all sections of the community.
