Plant Operations Manager – South East

Main Purpose of the Role:

You will be responsible for the sourcing, allocation and delivery of the correct machines and attachments in the most efficient manner to ensure all customer requirements are met.

Main duties:

  • Administration and management of machine/attachment numbers into Plant Work Scheduler.
  • Use of the Plant Work scheduler to identify missing gaps for kit in the system.
  • Work with local admin to raise PO for x-hire kit requirements, responsible for then issuing this to supplier.
    • Ensuring all x-hire equipment is off-hired in a timely manner to ensure all cost is chargeable to customer.
  • Dotted line responsibility for depot engineering; with high levels of interaction between this role the engineering team to ensure kit is inspected, fuelled and prepared for dispatch. (Ensure all kit within EAC and no pending service/maintenance requirements which will disrupt the hire period)
  • Generate SYRINX PDI Form for the equipment/attachments required for delivery to the client
  • Responsible for ensuring all of the Transport arrangements are planned correctly and cost effectively to minimise wastage. Identifying site to site moves which need to be planned efficiently to avoid additional costs.
  • Upload all shifts into RRVPS
    • Agree coding for RRVPS.
  • Involvement in customer walkouts to support the customer in determining best methodology/plant for their works (through either allocation of suitable individual to attend or if they have requisite knowledge to attend themselves).
  • This role will also ensure required ancillaries on site such as fuel/bog mats/etc are dispatched to site as required including x-hire effectiveness, efficiency, and management.
    • Ensure any white diesel (DERV) requirements are identified for x-hire machines and telehandlers and that Commercial team are aware of cost for quotation/invoicing purposes.
  • Ensuring adequate fuel is available at the depot.
  • Record and identify any damages to kit whilst on site/transport for billing/cross charge/insurance claims.
    • In event of onsite/transport damage, POM will raise initial claim with customer/transport provider to ensure liability identified and cost can be charged back.
  • Ensure all kit (plant/attachment/ancillaries) that is being dispatched is fully captured in the customer PO and quotation.
  • Haulage review of actuals against what is being billed in invoice to customer so any changes can be added in.


  • Send completed transport work schedule to Haulier for pricing, Haulier returns, and POM should check against agreed schedule of Rates, once finalised send through to SSC team for raising a PO.
  • On Call duties as required.
