THE GIG

As Made in England (MIE) Plant Manager you’ll be responsible for leading our MIE factory strategy and overall production strategy, as well as overseeing day-to-day Operations & Centre of Excellence.

An inspirational, creative leader and proud Dr Martens brand custodian, you’ll drive excellence in performance in line with KPIs, partnering with Engineering to drive innovation in manufacturing process.

The role is based at our MIE factory in Northamptonshire.

As our Made In England Plant Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Leading a production team at the highest standards of productivity and efficiency, in line with budgeted capacity and best-in-class manufacturing standards.
  • Overseeing the hiring, coaching and development of skilled workers, supervisors and managers. Developing a team of highly motivated and capable supervisors who lead through a collaborative management style.
  • Building strong relationships within a complex and matrix organisation, with the Global Sourcing, Supply Planning & Product Development teams
  • Being strategic in the way the plant is configured, with a customer centric mindset

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • An experienced Plant / Factory Manager, passionate about delighting the customer, & meeting performance targets. Experience in Footwear would be a bonus but isn’t essential.
  • An inspirational leader who can get the best out of a diverse team, instilling a brand custodian mindset
  • Ability to translate best practice and performance standards from large scale manufacturing into lean and agile micro-scale manufacturing principles
  • Great leadership and relationship management that delivers results through effective teamwork
  • You’ll be a proud custodian to our DM’s culture, embodying what we stand for and encouraging others to do the same
  • You’ll build a highly engaged team – you’ll embed a collaborative culture and ensure the team have direction (short & long term), guidance & support; coaching will be your go-to
