DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position, reporting to the Director, Institutional Research and Planning, provides extensive research and analysis services on a wide range of college activities at the institutional level, in a fast-paced, challenging environment. A multidisciplinary position with considerable complexity, responsible for conducting research by collecting, extracting, compiling and analyzing relevant information, including statistical assessments, from a wide variety of internal and external sources, assessing additional information needs, and working closely with key contacts to identify solutions and produce professional quality, accurate, reliable, timely and user-friendly data/reports. The incumbent is in particular accountable for conducting strategic applications, enrolment analysis, reporting and forecasting to inform planning and decision-making by the various departments, academic leadership and senior management of the college.
This position plays an integral role in supporting the institutional planning, process enhancements, strategic evaluations and decision making by using research expertise:
To execute institutional priorities and research projects by:
- Designing and executing comprehensive research projects that utilize appropriate research design and statistical methodologies for gathering and analyzing data.
- Utilizing accepted survey research design methodology and available survey software to design, deploy, test, administer and monitor surveys.
- Conducting statistical analysis to produce professional quality, accurate, reliable, timely and user-friendly data/reports.
- Collaborating with IT services to ensure data security/confidentiality management of the ERP survey and data software systems.
- Providing validation/analysis/data visualization/interpretation of the results and presenting conclusions to a variety of stakeholders.
- Producing professional quality, well-written publications for internal and external distribution to various stakeholders for planning and decision making.
- Ensuring data confidentiality and adhering to stringent ethical and research integrity requirements at all times.
- Building and integrating a knowledge base of internal and external information sources and findings relevant to institutional research and planning.
To support strategic quality and growth initiatives by:
- Producing data visualization dashboards/reports with relevant performance indicators for use by the academic/service areas and senior management.
- Preparing professional quality, accurate, and timely environmental scans and providing relevant labour market information.
- Providing analysis to support the strategic priorities.
- Establishing, utilizing, and enhancing best practices for institutional research and planning in cooperation with all areas of the college.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post graduate Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Sciences, Education, Business Administration, Research Methods/Analysis, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, AI/Data Analytics.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience research methods, and inferential statistical analysis using SPSS, MS Excel, Python/R or equivalent.
- Proficiency in survey design, and survey project management.
- Experience in creating, manipulating and managing large data sets needed for analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency in statistical parametric and non-parametric methods, predictive modelling and forecasting techniques.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools; experience in Tableau would be strong asset.
- Familiarity/training in Banner information system would be an asset as well as related reporting/business intelligence tools (e.g. Cognos BI).
- Ability to synthesize and interpret data, and communicate effectively (oral, written and presentation).
- Strong writing proficiency and ability to consistently produce accurate reports through attention to detail, high level of accuracy and critical examination of assumptions and procedures.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and strong time management skills in planning, executing and completing tasks.
- Ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment and work independently to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work professionally and effectively with people at all levels in and outside of the institution.
