Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Position: Mill Electrical/ Instrumentation Planner/ Scheduler

Schedule: 7 On 7 Off

Position Reports To: Senior Electrical Engineer

Role Summary

Under the general direction from the Senior Electrical Engineer, perform scoping, planning, and scheduling of fixed plant maintenance and repair activities for weekly maintenance schedules as well as for plant shutdowns, all in the pursuit of excellence in asset and process reliability, maintenance management, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Scope job requirements for submitted work notifications taking into consideration all applicable planning elements including:

Craft selection and manpower estimates.
Engineering and technical service requirements.
Site support equipment requirements.
Rental equipment requirements.
Special service provider requirements.
Contractor support requirements.
Drawing, photos, manuals, and other technical requirements.
Detailed work procedures and instructions required to complete the task.
Inventory parts and materials requirements.
Direct charge material requirements (i.e. non-inventory items).
Work permit requirements including but not limited to hot work, confined space, working at heights, and any related rescue plans.
Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) requirements.
Testing, commissioning, and start-up requirements.
Ensure that all planned jobs comply with all New Gold, provincial, and federal policies related to health, safety, and the environment.
Conduct regular reviews of notifications, converting all that have been planned to work orders.
Collaborate with the Shutdown Coordinator as well as Operations and Maintenance supervision and management to screen and prioritize the work backlog.
As required, assist the Shutdown Coordinator in the production of weekly work forecasts as well as long-term work projections.
Contact vendors and subcontractors as required to assist in facilitation of work orders.
As required, facilitate meetings with requestors of work to clarify scoping and planning requirements.
Generate schedules & conduct regular reviews of completed and rescheduled work with the maintenance team.
As required, facilitate bid walks and site visits by third party contractors and special service providers. Direct the activities of the Material Coordinators to kit and stage materials for planned and scheduled work.
Directing the activities of the Material Coordinators to return unused materials to warehouse inventory, and to prepare rebuildable equipment and components for refurbishment.
As required, oversee and support small projects executed by contractors or other special service providers.
Collaborate with maintenance personnel to maintain a constant feedback loop with ideas and suggestions to continually optimize job scoping, planning, and scheduling.
Assist with the continued management of asset bills of material (BOMs).
Compile and archive completed work order documentation.
Provide administrative support to the maintenance team, including filing, creation of documents and notifications.
Attend all weekly meetings, including scheduling meetings, toolbox, and contractor meetings, etc.
Provide weekly reporting and updates to management.
As required, fulfill the roles and responsibilities of the Shutdown Coordinator in their absence.
Perform other duties as required and as directed by the Senior Electrical Engineer.

Qualifications

Diploma in a technical discipline or related field.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an operating site in an industrial maintenance role, or a journeyman designation in an industrial trade with a minimum 8 years’ experience in an operating site in an industrial maintenance role.
Previous experience in a leadership role supervising maintenance and construction trades in the execution of work would be an asset.
Understanding of construction/ maintenance planning and scheduling concepts, practices, scheduling tools and techniques.
Training, certification, or demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and operational excellence would be an asset (e.g., Six-Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc.)
Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads and immediate changes in priorities.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings including, but not limited to Electrical Schematics, Instrumentation Loop Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), fabrication and shop drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings and Installation Operation and Maintenance (IOM) manuals.
Beginner to intermediate level skills with the Microsoft Office software suite.
Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other computer aided design tools will be an asset.
Previous experience with SAP ERP software is desired. Previous experience with other ERP software including, but not limited to JD Edwards, Oracle/eAM, MIMS/Ellipse or others would be an asset.
Ability to analyze and solve problems of moderate complexity.
Able to walk and stand for long periods of time, which includes climbing stairs and ladders.
Able to work with minimal supervision while delivering superior results.
A demonstrated commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement in assigned roles and responsibilities.
Proven track record showing a commitment to health and safety and to environmental protection.
