We're seeking an Entry-Level Planner in our San Francisco office who's passionate about data analysis and visualization. You'll be supporting our planning and engineering work on all sorts of projects, making complex data understandable to both clients and communities. Your work will help bridge the gap between technical analysis and real-world results. As a trusted advisor, you'll create materials that spark dialogue with the public and help clients make informed decisions. To succeed, you'll need knowledge of transportation planning principles and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights. - Work closely with project managers, engineers, and planners to devise appropriate analysis methods and metrics, design robust and efficient processes, build visualizations, and tackle complex problems to identify opportunities for clients
- Transform complex transportation analysis into clear visuals for specific applications, including data visualization, maps, final reports, presentations, and community engagement
- Continually share ideas and examples with colleagues
- Uncover possible uses for data and evaluate potential biases of sources or collection methods
- Completed or in-process bachelor's or master's degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related major (e.g., geography, mathematics, statistics, economics)
- Relevant coursework in transportation, urban and regional planning, geography, mathematics, statistics, economics, or other related subjects
- Excellent spoken, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical results clearly and concisely
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as ESRI ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite
- Organizational skills and the ability to balance priorities between multiple tasks, within defined timelines
- Interpersonal skills, a desire to collaborate, and creative problem-solving skills
- Experience with Python, R, or similar scripting language is preferred but not required
- Previous work experience in consulting is a plus but not required
- A portfolio demonstrating your visual design capabilities is requested, but not required
The salary range for this position is $78,000-$84,000 per year. Placement within the stated pay range will be determined based upon education, experience, and qualifications.
